According to the leaks, the Samsung Exynos 2400 offers a huge boost in performance, especially in the multi-core segment, being 30% faster than the Apple A16 and beating the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The SoC’s single-core and multi-core Geekbench 5 performance scores are 1711 and 6967, respectively, and the jump in multi-core performance from the Exynos 2400 is notable. However, the single-core performance does not surpass that of the Apple A16.
Samsung Exynos 2400 vs Apple A16 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
The leak has shed light on the Exynos 2400 Geekbench 5 multi-core benchmark results. According to the numbers shared, Samsung’s upcoming chipset is shaping up to be a suitable challenger against Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Apple A17.
The Exynos 2400 is 31% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 currently found in top-of-the-line flagships. The Exynos 2400 is also surprisingly faster than the Apple A16 Bionic in terms of multi-core performance, but it doesn’t beat the A16 in single-core performance.
There is no information whether the SoC was tested on a commercial device and the runtime temperature of the Exynos 2400 is unknown. Also, @OreXda did not offer any screenshots to prove the authenticity of the performance results.
Despite these limitations, the Exynos 2400 is expected to perform similarly to the 4nm node that TSMC used to mass-produce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Final thoughts
The Samsung Exynos 2400 promises great performance in the multi-core segment and beats the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, though not in single-core performance compared to the Apple A16 Bionic.
Although there are concerns about the authenticity of the performance results and potential limitations, the Exynos 2400 is expected to perform well and more information about its performance on the Galaxy S24 series will be revealed in the future.
