Renowned South Korean online search company, Naver, has reported by TechCrunch, has unveiled its latest technological innovation to the world: HyperCLOVA X, a generative artificial intelligence tool that promises to revolutionize the way we interact on the web.
With a focus on improving the search experience, Naver has developed a suite of AI services that promise to establish a deeper connection between users and technology.
HyperCLOVA X marks a significant step forward in the realm of artificial intelligence
Similar to the well-known ChatGPT, Naver has launched its own AI chatbot called CLOVA X, which promises to provide intelligent and relevant answers to user questions.

However, this not all; the tool also includes an AI-based generative search engine called Cue, which is designed to compete directly with Microsoft Bing.
Best of all, it’s already available. Naver’s cloud services division, Naver Cloud, has launched the CLOVA X beta service in English and Korean today, August 24, while Cue is on its way for beta testing in September, with full integration with the cloud engine. Naver search scheduled for November.
This generative AI tool is aimed at both creators and enterprise customers, which means that both individuals and companies can take advantage of its power.
Furthermore, HyperCLOVA X is an improved version of its predecessor, the Large Language Model (LLM) for the Korean language known as HyperCLOVA, released in 2021. This new AI giant boasts of a staggering 204,000+ million parameters, although Naver has kept the precise figure for HyperCLOVA X secret.
At the same time, the South Korean company prides itself on having a team of more than 500 artificial intelligence experts, and has achieved the feat of developing one of the five largest language models in the world, exceeding 100 billion parameters. According to SooYeon Choi, CEO of Naver, in a letter to shareholders, the company is determined to lead the industry.
Naver Cloud is taking the capabilities of generative AI even further
Nako Sung, head of technology and hyperscale AI at Naver Cloud, has revealed that they are working on multimodal language models for CLOVA X, which will be able to understand and generate not only text, but also images, videos and audio.
This will open up new possibilities in the way we interact with information online. According to Sung, this feature will be released in the near future.
Competition in the field of generative AI
From OpenAI to Google to Baidu, the tech titans are vying for dominance in the AI generation. However, Naver stands out by focusing on regions not yet saturated by global competition, such as South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Additionally, to support its ambitious vision, Naver is about to inaugurate its second data center, GAK Sejong, which will house a staggering 600,000 servers in South Korea, all aimed at powering its generative AI services.
But the collaboration doesn’t stop there. Naver has been collaborating with Samsung since last December to develop AI chips aimed at hyperscale. This reflects Naver’s unwavering commitment to taking AI technology to new heights.
