Most popular web browsers for your Android mobile device

Android has a wide variety of web browsers available. You can download them from the Google Play Store or even from different app platforms. Each user can choose the version they like the most, and this article includes the most popular web browsers you can download in your Android device.

The most popular one is Google Chrome and the statistics indicate that every county around the world has Chrome as the most popular web browser. However, the Statcount analysis also indicates which browsers are among the most used. It’s an interesting information that relates to the user experience and alternatives for mobile devices.

Google Chrome is the most popular web browser today

Google Chrome leader of the most popular web browsers for an Android device and the fall of Edge

By the end of August, the users keep choosing Google Chrome as the most popular of web browsers for Android devices as well as computers. Statcount indicates a quota of 66,17% worldwide and it’s even higher than the last record.

The statistics are from August 2024. It’s a year with little variations in comparison with 2023. Numbers also include the use of Google Chrome in Apple’s iPhone devices.

Safari is the second most used web browser. It covers a quota of 23,28% and the third spot is a very curious one. Some users may think that Edge from Microsoft is the third web browser but in facts it’s Samung  Internet with a quota of 4,13%.

Edge was the third web browser according to 2023 statistics, but it seems that the latest changes weren’t well received. The incorporation of Copilot doesn’t work and Microsoft is losing presence in the mobile world. On the other hand, Samsung increased the quota and went from 4th to 3rd place in just a year.

On the 4th, 5th and 6th place you can find Opera, UC Browser and Firefox respectively. They have a share of users of 2,04%, 1,77% and 0,58%. Edge is on the seven spot with only 0,45% of quota. However, in desktop computers Edge is the second most used web browser with a share of 13,8% against the 64,55% of Google Chrome.

Edge is the great loser in mobile devices. The newest features haven’t been accepted by the community and the app download is getting lower each day. The moment of glory of Google Chrome doesn’t seem to be at risk.
